I'm A Barbie Girl
In honour of Barbie’s 60th birthday, I thought I would write up a quick post about what Barbie means to me.
Growing up I always had a Barbie with me. They were my favourite toys and I could spend hours on hours playing with them. I would always come up with different scenarios to have them play out. I never had a Barbie house, but I would use whatever I had available to make them as comfortable as possible.
I had my Spice Girls, Britney Spears, S Club 7, Mary-Kate and Ashley, Disney Princesses, plus many of the different Barbie’s out there. I remember for one of my birthdays I was so excited because I got enough money to buy a Barbie Beetle (hot pink of course). My favourites have to be my Holiday Barbie's, which I still have in original boxes on display in my room.
With all of this, Barbie was actually a great influence for where I am now. My favourite part was being able to dress them up and mix and match all their outfits. I would even use Kleenex to make different dresses and tops. Barbie is where I got my love for fashion and all things girly and pink. I now get to dress up life size Barbie’s for a living. It has really been a dream come true. Although, I would actually love to work for Barbie one day. Who knows what the future will hold, but I know that Barbie will always be an inspiration to me.
Happy 60th Birthday Barbie! Thank you for all you have done for me.
